Every time I draw a cartoon like this one, I tell myself, "Man, I'm getting too old for this kinda stuff."

But the another side of myself tells me, "Hey, I like drawing this kinda stuff. Age doesn't mater. To hell with Age. Draw what you want, Dammit.".

Which side should I listen to? I have no idea. Anybody?

My opinion on this matter is that you should draw whatever you want, no matter your age. I believe it's good for keeping the spirit alive. :)

(This is another great cartoon, by the way.)

oh please - get over yourself hugh.

put that bad-boy on a bottle of stormhoek and we'll talk about acting your age. ,-)

Ask a blogger to get over himself? What?

Jeff, you should learn to better manage your expectations ;)

Which side should you listen to? Well, according to the cartoon, looks it's the backside!:-)

Baiting comments, are we? Well, of course you should do whatever the hell you want. You're an A-lister, remember? Let them eat cake.

If you didn't provide us with this type of humor, I don't know where else I'd find it, and that would be a sad day indeed.

If you continue having ideas like this, then clearly you are not too old to continue having ideas like this. Doesn't that make the first voice just plain wrong?

Why set limits on what you can and can't do once you've gotten your crayons back?

I pissed myself - so maybe I am getting too old...where are those damn adult diapers...

Age is a state of mind.

Posted by: Peter Cooper at August 17, 2006 3:31 AM

it made ME laugh, and then i sent it around to friends who are prolly spittng coffee at the computer screen as i write this . . .

Draw what YOU like. Personally, I found this one to be very good - more so than most of the others reciently ;-)

Either way, keep drawing :) Thanks for all the 'toons.

(PS, I have #7 of 200 of ""I can't take this anymore" he said, mistakenly" on today. How apt :))

This isn't a serious is I mean, if cartoons like this are wrong I don't wanna be right.

Keep it going!

Listen to the back side :)

Posted by: Adam Hertz at August 17, 2006 6:29 AM

Don't listen to the fuddy duddy side, listen to the side that drew that! Love it!

And the worst of it is, he's got no neck so can't even look over his shoulder...

Posted by: Mark McGuinness at August 17, 2006 7:08 AM

Hugh,

At your age, if it flies at half mast and is attached to your arse, you are a lucky guy!

Keep the cartoons coming anyway but boringly!

I love the size and girth of the tool. It looks circumcised too! I could definitely enjoy backing up on that piece of perfection. Kudos!

u shouldnt listen to your mind, but your heart... like u probably know ;)

Posted by: createn at August 17, 2006 10:38 AM

Whatever you choose to do in life, you should choose to do it with passion, belief and meaning.

You know this.

If you find passion, belief and meaning in drawing that style of cartoon, knock yourself out. If you think it leaves you empty and striving for something else, change it.

Just don't conform because somebody else doesn't enjoy it. The World is a big place, you can afford to lose readers, there will still be plenty left who get your niche. That's just the way things are.

Draw whatever your inspiration brings to mind - you start censoring yourself, who knows what else might get suppressed along the way. I want my unfiltered Hugh!!

Posted by: Jason at August 17, 2006 2:23 PM

ya gotta keep listenin' to that inner muse. you've got a good relationship with her, so don't screw it up by censoring (or censuring) yourself.

The way i see it....you're only as old as your liver says you are. As for me, my liver it telling me i'm 75 liters.

Posted by: jeepin818 at August 17, 2006 3:32 PM

I am 35 and damn near gagged trying to prevent myself from spitting coffee all over my desk. Stop drawing this stuff if YOU don't find it funny.....but I have no doubt you know that already.

I was left wondering if this is necessarily a bad thing. I could scratch my ass and my balls at the same time.

You made my day.

Someone in my company went off script today and pulled up your site as a 'social network' example during a kickoff meeting and the top image was a backwards dick.

I love you for it.

Posted by: Chad Vavra at August 17, 2006 8:21 PM

I, for one, find backwards penises to be not only amusing, but nostalgic, as quite a few of my former paramours were also ass/dick combinations. Makes me feel all fuzzy inside. If you keep going in this vein, I assure that you'll have an audience of 1 at the very least.

One may grow old, but that doesn't mean one grows up. Which is a good thing.
Maturity is relative.

Silly Hugh ... you already make up your mind, dint-cha!

LOL! Hmm, what about boobs?

Posted by: biker at August 18, 2006 10:53 AM

the dick side, definetly! ;-)

Posted by: DouDa at August 18, 2006 6:45 PM

What should you do? Quit asking rhetorical questions and get on with the drawing (and pushing Stormhoek, and yachts, and helping push awfully damn expensive [but I'm sure quite nice] suits).

Posted by: matt at August 22, 2006 2:48 PM
