I love the cartoon, but I'm not sure I agree with the sentiment. Technology changes people, albeit slowly and over time. It's easy to take comfort in the idea that humanity is constant in many areas, but I don't know how accurate that is. People change. Technology forces the issue, sometimes.

I don't think you can take a short quote like that and generalize it too much. Of course people change, the point is that Human Nature doesn't change insomuch as it is genetically fixed. But part of that nature is to adapt to the environment we're in. Ergo changing the conditions as technology does will lead humanity to adapt to the new situation. But the human nature that lead us to adapt will remain unchanged.
