john t. unger, artist and global microbrand

firepit_02.jpg
One of John T.'s "Firepits".

Chris Carfi points to John T. Unger, an artist and regular gapingvoid commenter who has used his blog and the global microbrand idea to carve out a nice wee career for himself (for more money than his last day job paid him, I hasten to add).

Go read John T's take on it here. Very uplifting.

Thanks for this Hugh. These Global Microbrand updates are like solid food...

I'm still looking forward to globalmicrobrand.com going up... any word on when that may be?

Hugh, thanks for the mention!

I owe you major props for a lot of what made this possible. Not just the idea of the global microbrand, but a lot of the style and attitude etc. I just kinda took your ideas and ran with them in my own way, and it worked out pretty well.

In fact, thanks to you, the business side has become as creative as the art, if not moreso. That freakin' rocks! What really makes it work for me is that it's so much fun. I've met a lot of cool people, made friends, discussed ideas that wouldn't have been possible on a purely local level.

Thank you Hugh and John. I've told Hugh that his blog is chock full of marketing material, case studies, etc. I've been channeling Hugh in New Orlenas, making use of his insights to turn people here onto blogging as a customer relationship tool, or a constituent relationship tool in the case of Varrecchio.

This here gapingvoid is priceless.
