kill yourself

[NB: Robert Scoble's Blogroll is here.]

I had a really good time at the London Geek Dinner two nights ago. Always great to see the Scobles again, and nothing else I know gets so many British bloggers and geeks in a single room quite so cheap & easily. So, a roundup:

1. Hugh Fraser did a really good podcast interview of Scoble and I, around 20 minutes long.

2. Simon Cast took some photos of the event here.

3. More photos here.

4. Kudos to my client, Stormhoek for sponsoring the complimentary wine, and for Sam Sethi of MSN for sponsoring 50% of the food cover charge. Next time, he tells me Microsoft will sponsoring 100% of the cover charge, which is very good news for tight-fisted types like myself.

5. Anybody else got something to add? Please post it on the wiki here, or post a comment below. Thanks.

Thanks for organising another great night, Hugh. Once again I got to see some of the people I read and got to meet some new people to read... How was the champagne bar?

I don't get the infatuation with robert scoble. So a microsoft employee blogs, so what? I'm sure he is an intelligent nice fellow, but his blog lately is filled with little more than personal stuff that is no more interesting than a sanitation workers blog. Plus I thought we were all supposed to be infatuated with Firefox and Google/Yahoo and were shunning all things Microsoft because IE doesn't conform to web standards, who are their bloggers?

At least with Gapingvoid we get good advice and a consistent message about how the world of marketing should be. Keep up the good work.

I must say it was very provocative for me to be at a sponsored geekdinner. I don't mind Stormhoek, because I got to know in advance that they are sponsoring ? but microsoft ? half the bill ? and they got to speak ?

I knew Robert was there to speak.. but msn.co.uk ?

I am a bit disappointed because I am so sick and tired of everybody sponsoring the "hip" blogosphere.

I thought geekdinners were people meeting people with no intentions what so ever except networking..

anyway the danish geekdinners will never have sponsors, I would rather pay for my evening myself and know that no sponsor is trying to sell me something

in my opinion. the only people there who is trying to sell me something are likeminded geeks who are passionate about this.

so what differs a geekdinner for a microsoft party then ?

Henriette, if you REALLY objected, you would have refused to accept the £10 off the cover on POINT OF PRINCIPLE, and insist on paying the full £20 cover. But I'm assuming you didn't, ergo I will draw my own conclusions.
