[One of my favorite cartoons from my New York days. 1998.]
One of the great recurring themes of this blog is how much I miss living in New York. Go read my "About" page if you don't believe me.
Still, there's a reason why I'm no longer there. As a conversation I remember having long ago still humorously reminds me:MANHATTAN CONVERSATION, 1999:
GIRL IN BAR: You drink a lot.
HUGH: Indeed.
GIRL IN BAR: Do you think you may be an alcoholic?
HUGH: Not really. I just use alcohol as an appetite suppressant.
GIRL IN BAR: But you don't look like you have a weight problem.
HUGH: I'm not talking about food, Sweetheart.
