1. AOL buys Weblogs Inc. Congrats to Jason Calacanis.
2. VNU, the Dutch Media conglomerate, has done a deal with Gawker Media. Congrats to Nick Denton.
3. Wow.
[UPDATE:] Dave Winer's Weblogs.com sells for $2.3 million to VeriSign. When it rains, it pours etc.

I don't think the AOL news is official yet . . .
Posted by: Barry Ritholtz at October 6, 2005 2:14 AMWait.... then what happens if Google buys AOL?
Posted by: Daniel Nicolas at October 6, 2005 2:47 AMAah, the question really is, who gets to buy hugh?
[pun intended :P]
One of the first results of the Gawker/VNU-Deal is a german version of gizmodo (de.gizmodo.com), which is really terrible. Nothing to open a bottle of champagne on.
Posted by: Herr Herrner at October 6, 2005 10:04 AMThere was actually a lot of talk about things related to your blogging points in the previous post at Web 2.0 this week. And a big wow re: VNU deal - I hadn't heard about that one.
Posted by: sandra at October 7, 2005 3:06 AMAdd Dave Winer's deal into the mix and it reminds me of the dot-con boom. I can't help but wonder when Joi will see his pay for investing with the Trotts. They would be next in line for a big deal. Or did they already and I was sleeping when it happened?
