Apparently Remi is a big fan and subscriber of my newsletter. His wife, Tara commissioned me to draw something special for his birthday.
As I understand it, when they first became a couple, they spent a lot of time traveling abroad and having all sorts of wonderful adventures together. So I used that as the intellectual starting point for piece: “Love + Adventure” etc.
I drew the black lines on my Tablet PC, then printed the image out on high-grade art paper. Then I sat down and painstakingly applied the red ink by hand, with an old-fashioned dipping pen.
Yes, it took forever… But I’m kinda glad, to be honest. This piece was designed to be with them for the rest of their lives, after all.
