John London, famous novelist and journalist, had strong opinions about inspiration.

The quote, You can’t wait for inspiration. You have to go after it with a club., is attributed to him, but the actual quote is much more elaborate:

Don’t loaf and invite inspiration; light out after it with a club, and if you don’t get it you will nonetheless get something that looks remarkably like it.

Inspiration doesn’t come from the heavens; it comes from our surroundings.

It comes from searching, from being open to unusual experiences and being able to connect information in a way that’s beyond face value.

Inspiration is surrounding us; we just have to be willing to work hard to find it.
