I choose you, I choose this

I choose you, I choose this

I spent the first two decades of my career scrambling around, wondering what the hell I was going to do when I finally grew up.

Then Jason and I co-founded Gapingvoid in 2008, and the rest is history. And now, I’m fond of telling people I’m never changing jobs (God willing).

This is what I do. This is who I’m doing it with. Hopefully the gods will concur.

It’s a great feeling to get to that stage of your career, even if, as in my case, it takes forever. Instead of spending most of your waking hours being “burdened by a great potential”, dreaming of future greatness or whatever. You spend a lot more of your time just living in the moment, trying to solve the problem at hand.

So instead of feeling like a heroically deranged, Edwardian explorer in a pith helmet, lost in the Amazon on some mad quest, you’re more like a master sushi chef, quietly chopping away, worrying about this piece of fish, not the next piece of fish. Earning your success, one bite-size piece at time.

This takes commitment. In the end, you’ve got to choose it.
