[Planning world domination, one index card at atime buah ha ha ha…]
After many years of having my base in South Florida, I’m pleased to announce I’m finally having a proper show during Art Basel Miami.
Though it’s too soon to make the formal announcement, here’s what we’re thinking:
1. Instead of the usual postmodern Art World bullshit, I’m doing a show revolving around something a lor more interesting, something I think actually matters: The Art of The Entrepreneur.
2. I’m planning a show around the life cycle of the entrepreneur, beginning with the ever-present “Unease”, then moving onto other themes- The Thrill of The New Idea, The grind of running a business, Love (in al its forms), Managing Complexity, Triumph, Disaster, Purpose and Meaning, before coming back to, you guessed it, the ever-present “Unease” yet again.
3. “Unease” is the only true constant in being a entreprenuer. Everything else comes and goes like the wind.
4. This is a continuation in my years-long attempt to articaltae a new art and language of business. Business, entereneurship and startup culture has not been given proper justice by the arts community, mainly because most of them want nothing to do with it, the culture is completely alien to them. Or so they think. The fact that you need a lot of business acumen in order to sell a painting for anything approaching proper money is lost on a lot of people.
5. “Business” is too interesting and important a subjet for the art world to continue to treat superficially. Especially with it being decades since the art world had any proper grip on the zetigeist.
6. The opening will be in the first week of December, 2013, in a very cool address in the Wynwood Art District, to be announced. For more information, feel free to drop at libne at [email protected]. Thanks.
