There’s a lot of talk about diversity.
The problem is, it’s mostly old straight white men doing the talking.
Real talk: Why do we need to diversify our teams?
Because whatever we create, we’re creating for real people. Gone are the days of the male and female user archetypes; now we’re building products that work for real people who live in a real world, and that world is diverse.
We demand richness from our experiences, and richness has to be genuine. It can’t just be created for people — it has to be created by people. We need input from across the spectrum, we need people who think gently and people who think analytically, we need outliers and underachievers.
We need a little bit of everything, and we need to celebrate all of it.
