Traditionally, there are three ways to become an entrepreneur.
The first way is to be naturally born born for it. Folk like Michael Dell, Henry Ford or Dana White come to mind.
Secondly is when you’re forced into it. Like the guy who started his own content marketing service, after he got laid off, aged 47, from his high-paying advertising gig on Madison Avenue.
Third is when you kinda fall into it. Like a Scottish friend of mine, who to pay his bills, got a short term gig helping out a friend with some window washing. The next thing you know, he’s a full partner of a very successful window washing service.
All three are easy enough to understand, conceptually. They’re part of what we all know as “Life”. Stuff happens. Things change. People adapt. The dance goes on.
What’s more interesting to me, is how do people who are not in traditionally entrepreneur roles, i.e. people with normal day jobs, become more entrepreneurial?
How do you empower them? How do you make them take the initiative more often?
How do you reduce the fear? How do you reduce the resistance?
It’s a multi-trillion dollar question, one that will dominate society in the next fifty years, as our idea of what a “job” is morphs beyond all recognition.
And as the cartoon says, it all begins with mindset. Change the mindset of your company, and change happens whether you like it or not. Exciting stuff!
My name is Jenna. I am a student enrolled in an entrepreneurship course, and we are learning about using images from the Internet. I was wondering if I could have permission to use the image “Entrepreneurship is a Mindset” for an assignment I am working on? Thank you so much!
Yes you can use it as long as it’s not for commercial use, please credit Gapingvoid Culture Design Group.
My name is Mei and I am also a student enrolled in an entrepreneurship course. Right now we are learning the importance of citing sources and not taking credit for someone else’s work. I really admire the drawing above and I’m hoping that I can be granted your permission to use it for this assignment. Thank you so much!
