[York Minster is very impressive etc.]
[Blackpool in the off-season is an utterly surreal place...]
I am writing this from a small hotel in Preston. We're too tired to go out, so we're staying in and catching up.

I've only been to Blackpool once, but it was also off-season -- January, I think. Very odd to walk down near-empty streets in such an obvious vacation area. I live in Florida, but even during the winter, we have Snowbirds. No such think in Blackpool. ;-)
