I think there is a degree of understanding required here, rather than outright criticism.
You know, many people like Roger act like this because they are scared. Scared of having failed, scared of previously experienced terrible consequences, scared of having the event that caused them so much pain happen again.
Being a victim is a way of preventing yourself being put in the situation where the pain can come back.
A little bit of understanding is required here...even the online world is not 2-D.
