Apparently Loic Le Meur's blog traffic has gone crazy since he announced that he voting for Nicolas Sarkozy in the next French presidential elections:
The reason I did that is that Nicolas Sarkozy, currently #2 in Government and future candidate is the only politician in France to my knowledge to say he wants to transform France into a "nation of entrepreneurs" when entrepreneurs are often seen as "enemies of the State" these days, so I can only support him. Of course, many people disagree...I certainly don't disagree. If anyone is going to save that lovely but stubborn country from needless oblivion, it's going to be its entrepreneurs, and not the L'Ecole de La Mort mandarins currently running the place like their own private country club.
Rock on, Loic! Godspeed, Sarkozy! Vivent les entrepreneurs!

Posted by: Loic at September 24, 2006 6:58 AMdoesn't loic realize sarko is just SAYING that he wants to transform france? that doesn't mean it's the truth! geez, he IS a politician, afterall. he wants votes. sarko's a vote 'ho' trying to get naive ppl like loic lemeur to believe him then vote for him. he's also trying to get le pen's supporters to vote for him too by expulsing immigrants and tearing families apart.
god only knows if business as usual in france can change, it'll be for the better but change doesn't exist in the french dictionary. (i looked)
besides, france loves living in needless oblivion. (remember the cpe demonstrations?)

A French Entrepreneur ;)
Posted by: Jean-Louis Seguineau at September 24, 2006 12:35 PMLOVED this creative piece of art and pithy prose... Thanks Hugh! I tend toward a fondness bias regarding entrepreneurs. even if it's difficult to spell. Regarding that French politician and his statement,,, I wonder (who could ever doubt) just wonder if politicans in France speak "merde" in any way similiar to our politicans in Canada. Maybe "non"? Quel jolie!
Posted by: Sheamus at September 24, 2006 4:28 PMi love entrepreneurship, but sarkozy does not impress me. he may create incentive for entrepreneurs, but the real work for bloggers and the like is done by us, not by politicians.
Posted by: julien at September 25, 2006 5:00 PMIt's not easy being self-employed in France... What puzzles me about the French civil service is if they put as much effort into their jobs as they did into complaining and skiving France might actually function better. Balance - that's what the French need.

Posted by: Tobi Z. at October 1, 2006 5:17 PMOh, we´re all going to hell in a handbasket if ad-people go political. They know so little, yet argue it so well.
