Do you know “When Lilacs Last in the Dooryard Bloom" by Walt Whitman? From the Cliff Notes a little something of the symbolism of lilacs and he poem....
"Lilacs, which are associated with everreturning spring, are a symbol of resurrection, while its heartshaped leaves symbolize love... “Death’s outlet song of life” means that out of death will come renewed life.
