What's an A-lister? Try the bloody OPML listings doing the rounds. It's just what we need, another list where, if traffic is money, the rich are getting richer and the poor just type and watch.

Maybe I am missing the point about shared OPML, but what benefit does another list bring other than to make the most famous, more famous?

Anyone, PLEASE shed some light on this!

Eugen, I was wondering how long that would be up there before somebody spotted the joke... ;-)

Paul I was telling someone this just yesterday, but what I do from time to time is use Technorati to sort the marketing blogs, and start reading them FROM THE BOTTOM. You would be amazed at how many incredibly smart bloggers are out there that you have never heard of, simply because they don't play the networking game of going to all the conferences. I've found about 10 of my favorite blogs this way, all have less than 20 links, and I would have likely never found any of them if I had relied on the 'A-Lister' blogrolls to tell me who I should be reading.

By that measurement, you're all A-listers! ALL of you!

(I just read an entry in DesertLight journal [http://desertlightjournal.blog-city.com/whats_next__aid_to_dependent_bloggers_an_open_letter_to_doc_.htm ] talking about being so far out on the long tail as to be somewhere past Z into the greek letters, and in the same entry talking about getting 500 hits/day and getting several speaking invitations as a result of the blog. If that's out beyond Z, where does that put me, I ask you?)

Mack, I have to say I like your plan, and not just because it means people who follow it more are likely to find my blog. :) There are, indeed, a tremendous number of intelligent bloggers out there in the long tail.

Hey Hugh,
You fooling around with the title of your feed really threw me for a bit. Total Quality GapingVoid? The funny thing is that in 10-20 years a lot of the best stuff written here will be co-opted by academia, diluted and taught to marketing students, and this may actually become a 'proper' term. Heh.

I did wonder about the title Hugh. Another typically subtle piece of humour! Nice one! I actually thought it was a clever piece of SEO, but then I noticed today's header too!

Methinks there is an awful lot of potential in Priate Eye-style "solutions-watch" or Colemanballs!

Hey Mack, I also got into a conversation abotu this yesterday and concluded that often the best opinions and most insightful views come from the comments that follow a posting.

Michael Arrington on Techcrunch must receive around 40 comments per posting and there are often some very, very good comments in there spotting things that Michael himself does not.

The problem though is consistency. One good comment does not a good blog make unfortunately.

Bingo! This is specifically why I don't use Bloglines, I want to visit each blog and READ the comments. Usually, as you say, there's nuggets of wisdom buried in the comments that you'll miss if you don't look for them.

While the page was loading in, I noticed that the name of the jpeg file is good for an unintentional laugh.

What *is* anal ister, anyhow?
