one leg at a time

zzzzsteak30.jpg

The other day, I woke up early and went straight to the computer in my dressing gown to write.

I was there for a couple of hours, happily cranking out some futuristic-death-of-marketing-vanguard-avast-ye-scurvies-take-no-prisoners whatsit for a client of mine.

It was cool. I was in the zone.

As I was finishing up, suddenly I realised how time had flown. It was after 9am. Time to start the day, time to jump in the shower.

Got out the shower, shaved and started to get dressed.

Started to put my trousers on. One leg at a time.

Folks like me can often get carried away with what I call "The New Realities."

Yeah, there's a lot of excitement with how the world is currently changing. A lot of people read blogs for precisely that reason. They want to know where the world is going. They think perhaps the answer will appear in the blogosphere sooner than most other places.

But the things that won't change, the things that aren't going anywhere; they are just as interesting: falling in love, having babies, learning to play guitar, enjoying a good meal, the list is endless.

People are still going to be putting their pants on, one leg a time, for the foreseeable future.

Change by itself is not interesting. How change affects the unchanging (and vice versa) is interesting.

Wishing you all a Happy 2005...

That's an interesting view, Hugh. Happy new year to you too!

I put my pants on both legs at a time. Its easy. I sit on a chair or on the side of my bed. Beats wobbling around and occasionally going head over tit.

Heh.

ps. Really like your how to be creative ebook. Some real punches to the head there. Made me think about a whole bunch of my strategies, career wise. Thanks.

Have a great 2005.
