Great BBC coverage of the tsunami crashing into Sri Lanka this morning. The worst earthquake for 40 years!

[UPDATE:] Evelyn Rodriguez was on Xmas vacation on Ko Lanta island in Thailand. Anybody know if she's OK?

[UPDATE- MONDAY:] Got an e-mail this morning from Evelyn:

I am in Phuket hospital. Got slammed
bad in Phi Phi island but nothing stitching couldn't fix. (Free email
at the hospital.)

I will blog more details as I have a lot of concerned people sending
email....really appreciate the check-in.

She's OK but she still took a knocking, it seems. Here's her blog entry on it: "Slammed by Tidal Wave, But I'm OK":
We were on a boat tour when the captain dramatically veered off course (we were headed to remote Bamboo Island) and was frantically talking on his cell phone. Their English was very poor so it was not clear what was going on. Long story short, we got on the beach but were too low when the tidal wave struck. It created a flash flood effect and I was in the middle of rapids containing debris, wood and all matter of building material.

Glad she's alright. Damn.

Hugh...you've got good connections...can you pass on (post) anything you hear about Evelyn Rodriguez? She was on Ko Lanta island in Thailand. Hopefully she's safe. Thanks.

Jesus, that gave me a chill. Sure hope Evelyn's OK in the midst of this massive tragedy.

Does anybody know how the young Doctor is on Phi Phi?
I was there in October with my wife and found him to be very obliging and kind when he treated her for Anaphylactic shock bought on by Jellyfish stings
If any body know his name and possibly a contact email address I would be grateful
