egofriction idea

xxx03.jpg

Egofriction: “Personality getting in the way of process.”

My current pet Egofriction gripe: the inability for “culturalists” and “technologists” to work together more closely.

I’ve been working with and watching blogs very closely these last two years. In particular I’ve been observing how using them might be integrated into The Hughtrain.

Blogs are good at some things, not good at other things, I’ve been having fun weighing up the pros and cons.

Marketing is dead. Advertising is dead. The Old Ways are dead. Dead, dead, and dead. Rotting frickin’ corpses, all of it, painful to watch etc.

Right now I’m seeing a huge gap in the market, which I believe has been completely overlooked by (1) the blogging software companies, (2) the professional blog building companies, and (3) the advertising agencies.

Feel free to e-mail: hugh at gapingvoid etc.

I subscribe to your site via RSS and read it in my email program (Thunderbird).

Recently I notice that you are using nonstandard characters in your blog entries - like the curly versions of " and '

These look awful in my straight-ASCII RSS reader. Would you consider dropping non-standard characters in order to give me access to the thoughts you're trying to communicate?

Thanks!
